Is tourism a culprit in commodifying cultures and traditions?
My opinion is no because I think if the country brings out their cultures and tradition to the world, it will not affect the cultures and traditions in that country. Since the country want to sell their cultures and traditions to the world to attract more tourists arrival to their country, it means that they know the importance of the cultures and traditions to them. Therefore, they will preserve and protect their cultures and traditions as their assets to attract more tourists to go to their country.
This not only helps to create awareness of the importance of the cultures and traditions to a country, but also introduce the country to the world. With this, more people will get to know more about the country and they will travel to the country. This helps to increase the country’s revenue as more tourists’ arrival to the country.
